About
I am currently working on my MFA in Ceramics at Cranbrook Academy of Art. In my spare time (*laughs with head down) I operate limescreen which is a screen printing company that prints fine clothes and limited edition serigraphs. I am married to, Tiernan Alexander, an incredible women that inspires my work. She truly fascinates me. You can see her ceramic work here.
Statement
I am intrigued by the transformative possibilities of thermodynamics on various materials. By testing the limits and effects of heat on ceramics and plastics I can alter their forms. The results capture the liquid state in a solid form. Topography, monumentality, humor and repetition are common motifs in these works.
My work at Cranbrook started with the notion of monumentality and has progressed to incorporate more of my design and print background. I am also interested in the notions of topographical mapping and how it relates to perception of space. I have experimented with utilizing space in a variety of ways using topography and size as a common theme.
